Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Congressman Josh Riley (D-NY-19) led 18 of their Freshman Democratic colleagues in a letter to President Donald Trump and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer urging them to fix U.S. trade policy to better strengthen American manufacturing, safeguard the environment and public health, and support America’s workers, small businesses, and innovators.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) announced nine grants, totaling over $91 million in federal funding for scientific research projects and infrastructure upgrades for California’s 12th Congressional District. The grants include over $1.76 million in funding for scientific research projects at the University of California, Berkeley and $88.89 million in federal funding to support climate resiliency projects and transportation upgrades in the East Bay and throughout Northern California.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House unanimously passed Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Congressman Pete Stauber’s (R-MN-08) bill, the “ThinkDIFFERENTLY About Disability Employment Act.” This bipartisan bill will help individuals with disabilities find jobs and help small businesses become more accessible for current or future employees.

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) testified against the Republican budget reconciliation bill in the House Rules Committee. Congresswoman Simon joined Democratic Members in a marathon debate session opposing the Republicans budget bill and delaying the bill.

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (D-CT-05) introduced the See the Board Act, legislation directing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to make grants available for nonprofit organizations that provide free, mobile vision services for students in public schools.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, in the House Oversight Committee, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) strongly opposed House Republicans’ reconciliation bill, which would include $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid, $230 billion in cuts to food assistance, increase the costs of everyday essentials, and continue the Trump Administration’s attacks on the federal workforce.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) will vote against H.R. 22, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. This legislation would disenfranchise millions of American voters with extreme, burdensome requirements; and by ending automatic, online, and vote-by-mail registration. The SAVE Act would also criminalize election officials for making simple mistakes related to voter registration.
