WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) joined Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA), Congressman Donald Norcross (D-NJ-01), and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) in introducing the Empowering Striking Workers Act, legislation that allows striking workers to be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits.  

Washington, D.C. -- Following Labor Day, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) led her colleagues in a letter to the Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer expressing alarm at the Department’s failure to protect federal contractors with disabilities and demanding transparency from the Department of Labor. 

OAKLAND, CA. – Since being sworn in in January, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) has delivered over $150 million in federal funding to the district. In the month of July alone, Congresswoman Simon announced a number of grants totaling over $45.9 million in federal funding for organizations and projects in the East Bay.

Washington, D.C. – Today, during Disability Pride Month, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) introduced the Disability and Age in Jury Service Nondiscrimination Act to prohibit excluding a person from federal jury service based on disability or age.
