OAKLAND, CA – Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12), Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX-30) recently re-introduced the United States Commission on Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Resolution, which urges the creation of a congressional commission acknowledging and examining systemic racism that has impacted Black Americans throughout U.S. history and the racial inequities that persist today.

Washington, D.C. – Congressional Equality Caucus Vice Chair Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12), Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA-11), Congressional Equality Caucus Chair Mark Takano (D-CA-39), and Congresswoman Jill Tokuda (D-HI-02) led 66 other Members of Congress in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth demanding that he rescind his order to rename the USNS Harvey Milk and reported plans to rename other vessels named after prominent civil rights leaders.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) announced nine grants, totaling over $91 million in federal funding for scientific research projects and infrastructure upgrades for California’s 12th Congressional District. The grants include over $1.76 million in funding for scientific research projects at the University of California, Berkeley and $88.89 million in federal funding to support climate resiliency projects and transportation upgrades in the East Bay and throughout Northern California.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House unanimously passed Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Congressman Pete Stauber’s (R-MN-08) bill, the “ThinkDIFFERENTLY About Disability Employment Act.” This bipartisan bill will help individuals with disabilities find jobs and help small businesses become more accessible for current or future employees.
