Washington, D.C. Legislative Internship
The Office of Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) seeks a paid-part time interns for Fall 2026 (September – early December) based in the Washington, D.C. office. Intern applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Ideal candidates are organized and passionate undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates with an interest in public service and social justice. Applicants should be self-starters with excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
Key responsibilities of D.C. interns include but are not limited to:
Aiding with front office operations
Conducting Capitol Tours
Answering phones, recording constituent opinions, and processing other incoming requests
Supporting the legislative team by drafting memos and conducting legislative research or community outreach
Attending briefings and congressional hearings
Performing other duties as assigned
Applications are accepted from Thursday, June 18th through Sunday, July 5th at 11:59PM EST. Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as applicants will be considered on a rolling basis. The internship will take place in-person during the Fall and is paid. Washington, D.C. Communications Internship
The Office of Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) seeks a paid and highly motivated Communications Intern for Fall 2026 (September – early December) based in the Washington, D.C. office. Intern applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
The Communications Intern works closely with the Communications Team to support a robust press and digital operation. Ideal candidates are organized and passionate undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates with an interest in public service and social justice. Applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and should have excellent writing and organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Applicants should have graphic design and video editing skills.
Primary educational opportunities and responsibilities will include:
Drafting engaging and creative social media content and graphics highlighting Member’s work;
Clipping committee remarks and press (cable, radio, other media) hits;
Compiling daily news clips and maintaining internal clips lists;
Drafting press releases, video scripts, and other written materials;
Maintaining press lists;
Media monitoring and research;
Other communications projects as they arise.

Oakland, CA Internship
Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) seeks three (3) paid part-time interns for her Oakland District Office for Fall 2026. Interns will work in person, 12 hours per week, at the District Office in Downtown Oakland. The ideal intern candidates are organized and passionate undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates with an interest in government, constituent services, and social justice.
Key responsibilities of District Interns include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with answering constituent inquiries and front-office operations;
Answering phones, recording constituent correspondence, and processing other incoming requests;
Drafting memos;
Beginning Constituent Casework;
Community and District engagements, including tabling and drafting government and constituent resources;
Applications are now being accepted and are due July 5th, 2026 at 11:59 PM (PST). Interns must be 18 years or older.
Selected candidates must not be working or interning in another Legislative or Federal department at the same time. The Fall 2026 Internship Program will run from September 1st to December 4th. Priority will be given to those with ties to California's 12th Congressional District.
