OAKLAND, CA – On January 30, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) announced her new legislation, H.R. 6069, the Rapid Intervention and Deterrence for Enhanced Rider Safety Act, or the RIDER Safety Act. This legislation would support transit ambassador, or transit support specialist, programs at public transit agencies across the country.

“I voted NO on H.R. 7147, the FY 2026 Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, which would continue to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at outrageous levels and further enable the Trump Administration’s racist enforcement actions against immigrant communities across this country.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Small Business Committee Chairman Rep. Roger Williams’ (R-TX-25) bill, the “Main Street Parity Act.” This bipartisan bill will give small businesses in “special purpose” buildings like bowling alleys, car washes, marinas, funeral homes, and recreation centers, that currently face unfair loan borrowing rules, the same access to capital as any other commercial property; this legislation will support local jobs that make our communities stronger and more vibrant.
