WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) released the following statement after she voted against S. 1318, the Foreign Intelligence Accountability Act, which would reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) voted for H. Con. Res. 40, a War Powers Resolution that would direct President Trump to remove United States Armed Forces from Iran and end all hostilities. The vote failed to pass the House of Representatives by 213 to 214. Congresswoman Simon released the following statement after the vote:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) voted for H.Con.Res. 38, Directing the President pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from unauthorized hostilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop President Trump’s illegal military actions in Iran. Following the vote, she released the following statement: 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 7147, Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026:

“I voted NO on H.R. 7147, the FY 2026 Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, which would continue to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at outrageous levels and further enable the Trump Administration’s racist enforcement actions against immigrant communities across this country.
