More on Economy and Small Business
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Last week, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Caregiving Task Force Co-Chair Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) joined fellow Caregiving Task Force Co-Chairs Debbie Dingell (MI-06), and Brittany Pettersen (CO-07), alongside DWC member Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), to lead 23 members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus in demanding Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reverse a proposed rule that would make child care less affordable and accessible.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and Small Business Committee Chairman Rep. Roger Williams’ (R-TX-25) bill, the “Main Street Parity Act.” This bipartisan bill will give small businesses in “special purpose” buildings like bowling alleys, car washes, marinas, funeral homes, and recreation centers, that currently face unfair loan borrowing rules, the same access to capital as any other commercial property; this legislation will support local jobs that make our communities stronger and more vibrant.
OAKLAND, CA. – Since being sworn-in in January 2025, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) has secured over $344 million in federal funding for California’s 12th Congressional District. These federal grants have supported scientific research, arts, education, community health care programs, housing programs, infrastructure modernization, small businesses, and more across the East Bay.
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12), Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA-02), and Congressman Jim Costa (D-CA-21), led 182 Democratic members in sending a letter to House Agriculture Committee Chairman Thompson and Ranking Member Craig opposing H.R. 4673, a bill that would undermine California’s Prop 12, in the next Farm Bill or any other legislation.
