Rep. Simon Appointed to House Committees on Small Business and Oversight

January 14, 2025
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Small Business and the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability for her first term in Congress. Representative Simon released the following statement on her committee assignments:

“I am excited to join the Committee on Small Business and the Committee on Oversight and Accountability and get to work for Americans. Thank you to Leader Hakeem Jeffries, the Steering and Policy Committee, Ranking Member Nydia Velazquez, and Ranking Member Gerry Connolly for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve on these two committees.
“Like many districts around the country, small businesses across the 12th Congressional District of California are facing uphill battles and struggling to stay afloat. I will work with Ranking Member Velazquez to lift up small businesses across the country, ensuring they have the support they need to create good-paying jobs, equitably access opportunities, and innovate to continue pushing the country forward.
“On the Oversight Committee, I look forward to working with Ranking Member Connolly to protect Americans’ rights and ensure our government lives up to its highest ideals to properly serve the people on every issue – from health care to affordable housing. This committee will also play an important role to hold the incoming Administration accountable and prevent the worst miscarriages of justice.”
