Congresswoman Simon Congratulates Congressman Robert Garcia on Election to Lead Oversight Democrats in the 119th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12), member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, released the following statement after Congressman Robert Garcia (D-CA-42) was elected to lead Committee Democrats as the Ranking Member:

“I join my Democratic Colleagues in congratulating Congressman Garcia on his election to serve as Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Committee. 

“As a member of the Oversight Committee and as a Californian – I am excited to work with Congressman Garcia. He is the man for the moment and will bring new ideas, generational change, and a fierceness to the fight. 

“Since the very first day of this administration, President Trump has acted lawlessly and unconstitutionally. The Oversight Committee is on the frontlines of defending our constitution and upholding the rule of law. I look forward to working  with Ranking Member Garcia and Committee Democrats to hold the Trump Administration accountable and fight for all Americans.”
